covid-19 updates: CIGC Authority reports 34 new local cases and 24 recoveries

DILI, april 2 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste today reported 34 new local COVID-19 cases and 24 recoveries bring the country’s total active cases to 461, the country’s CIGC said in a statement.

The Coordinator of the CIGC in Timor-Leste, Rui de Araújo, said there are two new clusters identified in Dili such as Atauro with one new local cases while another cases identified in Bairro Pite village which bring the total cases register from Bairru pite to 50.

Among the 34 cases today, 19 are men and 15 women. Two have symptoms and the rest are asymptomatic.

“Since yesterday, 632 laboratory tests have been performed, 223 following requests to leave Dili municipality,” Rui de Araújo said in a statement.

According to the coordinator, 167 requests were submitted yesterday. But 24 did not meet the requirements set out in the Government’s resolution.

Meanwhile Baucau registered the highest number of cases in municipality which is 26. The numbers in this municipality have caused alarm as it was under lockdown for many days and only emergency vehicles movement in and out of the province was permitted.

Covalima has also recorded 19 positive cases, bringing the municipality total to 19.

Viqueque 11, Ermera two cases, While Lospalos and Oé-Cusse registered the lowest number of cases in the past few days with just one positive cases in Lospalos and one in Oé-Cusse.

The CIGC also reiterated its appeal to the entire populations in Dili, Baucau and Viqueque as well as other municipalities maintain to remain calm and ensure that they comply with covid-19 protocol, by washing their hands with soap, check their temperature and maintain physical distance.
