DILI, 21 april 2021 (TATOLI)— Australia sends four Australian medical specialists to work together with the Ministry of Health to help Timor Leste tackle a sharp spike in COVID-19 cases.
The four members of the Australian Medical Assistance Team (AUSMAT) arrived at Nicolau Lobato International Airport, Dili today at 11:30 TLH with Qantas Airlines.
“Today a further four Australian medical specialists coming from Australia to provide the technical assistance to the Ministry of Health on the COVID-19 and emergency,” Australia’s Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Peter Robers told the journalists at the Comoro Airport.
Mr. Robert said Australia offers these medical specialists to help Timor-Leste because seeing that the number of covid-19 cases in continued to increase every day.
On April 14, Australia offered the two doctors, a senior epidemiologist to work with the Ministry of Health surveillance team.
Until yesterday, the COVID-19 Crisis Team registered a total of 84 new local cases, bring the total active cases to 725
