DILI, april 27, 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste confirmed 99 new local COVID-19 cases bring the country’s total active infections to 1,073.
Of the new infections, 58 were found in capital Dili, 34 in Baucau, two in Ermera, two in Ainaro, one in Aileu, one in Viqueque, and another one in the Oé-Cusse.
The Coordinator of the Task Force for the Prevention and Mitigation of the Covid-19 Outbreak in Timor-Leste at the Integrated Crisis Management Center (CIGC), Rui de Araújo, said that, among today’s cases, 71.1%, were detected following requests for authorization to leave the municipality or have already made the trip.
Of all the infections announced today, 50 are men and 49 are women. Five patients have symptoms and the rest are asymptomatic.
He added that, since yesterday, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has carried out 958 laboratory tests, 141 samples were performed through sentinel surveillance, 27 of contact screening, 198 were tested through random screening, 568 tested were performed following the traveling requests.
According to Araújo, 22 patients are doing the treatment at the Vera Cruz isolation center, – eight in the area of obstetrics, 11 in internal medicine, and three in pediatrics.
Araújo said that the eight obstetric patients and the other 10 patients are in a moderate condition while one patient out of the number is under a severe condition.
“One patient is in severe condition and the patient is using the ventilator,” he said.
The Authority also reported 76 recovery cases yesterday.
Timor-Leste has officially reported a total of, 2,048 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the coronavirus pandemic hit the country in March last year, with 3 deaths and 972 recoveries, according to the official data.
