DILI, may 20, 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste today reported 172 new local COVID-19 cases and 69 recoveries bring the country’s total active cases to 2,398, the country’s CIGC said in a statement.
Of the new cases today, 126 were confirmed in Dili, Ainaro has one case, Baucau eight, Bobonaro ten, Covalima eight, Ermera three, Manatuto 11 and Viqueque five.
The Coordinator of the CIGC in Timor-Leste, Rui de Araújo, said Among the 172 cases today, 103 are men and 69 women. 9.8% have symptoms and the rest are asymptomatic.
“Since yesterday, 964 laboratory tests have been performed, 70 tests were performed through sentinel surveillance, 81 via contact screening, 291 through random screening, 518 following the request for international and national traveling authorization, and four in quarantines. In addition, on May 19, 662 tests were also carried out in the municipalities, ” Rui de Araújo said in a statement.
The CIGC also reiterated its appeal to the entire population across the territories to remain calm and ensure that they comply with covid-19 protocol, by washing their hands with soap, check their temperature, and maintain physical distance.
