DILI, may 24, 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste today reported 179 new local COVID-19 cases and 120 recoveries bring the country’s total active cases to 2,601, the country’s CIGC said in a statement.
Of the new cases today, 151 were confirmed in Dili, Baucau recorded nine cases, Bobonaro 14 cases, and Covalima five cases.
Araújo, said Among the 172 cases today, 78 are men and 101 women. 10% have symptoms.
“Since yesterday, 726 laboratory tests have been performed, 53 tests were performed through sentinel surveillance, 102 via contact screening, 126 through random screening, 435 following the request for international and national traveling authorization, and ten in quarantines. In addition, on May 23, 418 tests were also carried out in the municipalities, ” Rui de Araújo said in a statement.
Regarding the evolution of the outbreak in the country, the incidence rate of covid-19 is, on average, in the last week, 13.2 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili, 41.9 per 100 thousand, Bobonaro of 9, 3 per 100 thousand, and Covalima of 8.4 per 100 thousand.
The incidence shows that Dili is a place with a high risk of contagious with covid-19.
Concerning this, The CIGC also reiterated its appeal to the entire population across the territories to remain calm and ensure that they comply with covid-19 protocol, by washing their hands with soap, check their temperature, and maintain physical distance.
