Timor-Leste COVID-19 update: Authority records 149 cases , 177 recoveries

DILI, 02 june 2021 (TATOLI) –  The Integrated Crisis Management Center (ICGC), on Wednesday records 149 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, 132 in capital Dili, and 17 in the municipalities, bringing the total active cases to 2602.

The spokesperson of the Integrated Crisis Management Center (CIGC), Rui Maria de Araujo informed that of the new cases, 81 were men and 68 were women, and the majority of the cases were between the ages of 12 to 59, including two children under the age of 12 and two elderly men over 60.

The 17 cases detected in the municipalities, including 1 in Ainaro, 7 in Bobonaro, 2 in Covalima, and 7 in Viqueque municipality.

Araujo said only 2.6 percent of today’s cases are symptomatic, while the rest showed no symptoms.

In the last 24 hours, The National Health Laboratory (LNS) has carried out 1068 PCR tests, including 30 sentinel surveillance tests, 61 through contact tracing, 408 via random screening, 559 were performed following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 3 for the international travel authorization, and 7 in quarantines.

Regarding the evolution of the COVID-19 in the country, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 11.5 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili of 35.8, Bobonaro 9.6, Viqueque 3.8,  3.4 in Baucau and Lautem 3.4.

Timor-Leste has recorded a total of 7310 confirmed Covid-19 cases, with 16 deaths, and 4692 recoveries since the beginning of the outbreak of the pandemic in the country.

The health authorities kept urging the communities to strictly obey and practice the health and safety guidance that had been implemented since the country imposed a lockdown in Dili and other municipalities.
