COVID-19: MoH continues to socialize covid-19 vaccination down to the villages to reach 80% of its target population

DILI, 04 june 2021 (TATOLI)-The Ministry of Health has begun the socialization of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine down to every village to meet the 80% target population.

“Socialization continues to be carried out by health staff, not only in villages but in every sub-village as well, we, therefore, continue to maintain a good communication with the head of the villages to reach the target of 80% thus we have to prepare good strategy,” said Minister of Health, Odete Maria Freitas Belo while attending a Talk Show at the National Election Commission (CNE) on Friday.

Odete explained, currently, the best solution to stop the transmission of COVID-19 is to continue implementing the health protocols from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health to prevent viruses for further transmissions.

The Ministry of Health has collaborated with the Ministry of State and Administration to authorize the local authority in the Villages to do the socialization in every village’s posts in all regions in Timor-Leste.

“Socialization continues to be carried out to the public, especially to those who do not have access to the information about COVID -19,” Ms. Belo said.

At the same time, The Director of the Non-Governmental Forum Organization (FONGTL), Daniel dos Santos recommended to the Government to be precise in providing the information, especially for the Ministry of Parliament and Social Communications to be more active in socializing.

“The role of social communication is to share the right information about COVID -19 to the public to help them to maximumly participate in the process of vaccination against COVID-19,” Mr. Santos said.

According to data released by the Inter-Ministerial Commission for the Implementation of Anti-COVID-19 Vaccines, from 7 April to now 87,230 people in Timor-Leste have access to the first shot of AstraZeneca Vaccine.
