Indonesia encourages Timorese farmers for local crops cultivation

Indonesian Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Sahat Sitorus

DILI, 15 june 2021 (TATOLI) – Indonesia through its ambassador to Timor-Leste, Sahat Sitorus encourages Timorese farmers for local crops cultivation to respond the international market.

The Ambassador considers farmers are main most important part to help Timor-Leste’s government to contribute for economy growth in this country.

Timor-Leste is a fertilize country and most of land covered by agriculture sectors and the land still abandonee and not in used for cultivate crops.

“Timorese local farmer have to work hard to grow crops that can respond to the international market. ASIA’s member countries always have similar products of local crops and it is needed for more developing in the agriculture trade,” The Ambassador of Indonesia told to Tatoli Agency, at Colmera, this tuesday

He encourages local farmers to work hard during the pandemic situation. The farmers should be increasing the quantity of crops and Indonesia is a neighbor country and always supporting Timor-Leste to purchase all crops.

Timorese farmers are the most important part to help Timor-Leste’s government to contribute for economy growth in this country.

“Last week Indonesia Embassy offered coconut training to the Timorese coconut local farmers. The training was through on online from Indonesia. The training was given to coconut farmers in Baucau, Viqueque and Lospalos,” Said the Ambassador of Indonesia Sahat Sitorus.

The Embassy of Indonesia provided this training to encourage Timorese coconut farmer to development coconut farmer and with the hope to increase the coconut crops in the future.

The Ambassador of Indonesia considers one of important issue to be solved in Timor-Leste is for a disease the infected to the pets, cows and it is called brucellosis.

He revealed that Indonesian government on coordination with Timor-Leste’s government to promote Timorese local crops to the international market.

Thus, Indonesian government planned to established border are between Indonesia and Timor-Leste in Mota Ain for food security area to ensure the effectiveness agriculture crops trade, between two country.

Mr. Sitorus said Indonesia is fully support Timorese government to increase local crops to respond for high demanding for international marker such as corn, soy bean, rice, cofee, contacts, Peanut, Coconut, Cashew, Arabica, Clove, Kinur, Copra, Robusta coffee, and Konjac and condle.
