DILI, 22 june 2021 (TATOLI)-Deputy Minister of Administration and State (MAE), Lino de Jesus Torezão said that until now Timor Leste through the National Electoral Commission (CNE) and STAE had not registered East Timorese voters in Indonesia to access general elections due to security factors.
“It is better for us to continue registering voters for Timorese who have a diaspora in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, South Korea and Australia because CNE and STAE have had experience in previous elections than Timorese who have a diaspora in Indonesia,” said Torezão to Journalist of TATOLI News Agency in Caicoli CNE office on tuesday.
He explained, forget about the Timorese who have a diaspora in Indonesia to take part in the general elections in 2022 and 2023 because the security factor has not yet reached.
In the meantime, do not register diaspora voters in Indonesia because it will require a lot of funds and also the security factor will also require a big quantity because Indonesia is a big nation and Timorese are almost in every province of Indonesia.
Registration of Timorese voters in Indonesia will be carried out when Timor-Leste already has a mature preparation in the future, said Torezão.
