COVID-19 update: Timor-Leste reports 67 new cases, 122 recoveries, 1 death and active cases at 812

DILI, 26 june 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, registered 67 new cases of COVID-19, with 122 recoveries, 1 death, and the active cases were 812.

Of the new cases, 48 were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were detected in the municipalities, including 2 each in Baucau and RAEOA, 1 each Manatuto and Manufahi, and 7 in Covalima and 6 in Viqueque municipality.

The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 67 new cases, 8.9 percent were symptomatic.

Araujo said of today’s cases, 66 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including a child under 12. These new cases were made up of 40 men and 27 women.

Araujo added 12 patients were under treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center and 1 patient was in critical condition.

The ICMC also today recorded another death from Covid-19 in capital Dili.

Araujo said the deceased was a 32-year-old woman from Ermera municipality and lived in Comoro-Dili. The deceased had been suffering from respiratory failure and multiple organ failure. She was diagnosed with COVID-19 on june 1 and transported from Tasi-Tolu to Vera Cruz Isolation Center on june 5 and died yesterday at 7:25 p.m. local time.

Since yesterday, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 651 PCR tests, including 19 sentinel surveillance tests, 6 through contact tracing, 20 via random screening, 590 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 1 for the international travel authorization and 15 in quarantines.

The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 3.3 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 7.8, Manatuto 5.8, and Baucau 2.9.

The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus in the country despite the ICGC’s records showing a slight drop in cases over the past few weeks in the capital Dili and some municipalities.

There has been a total of 8.979 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 8.146 recoveries, active cases were 812 and 21 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.
