DILI, 29 june 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, registered 63 new cases of COVID-19, with 73 recoveries, 1 death, and the active cases were 790.
Of the new cases, 42 were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were detected in the municipalities, including 12 in Baucau, 4 in Covalima, and 1 each in Aileu, Ainaro, Bobonaro, and Ermera.
The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 63 new cases, only 3 percent were symptomatic.
He said of today’s cases, 62 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including a child under 12.
Araujo added 13 patients were under treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center and 3 patients were in critical condition.
The ICGC also today recorded another death from Covid-19 in the capital Dili.
Araujo said the deceased was a 7 month old male baby from the Venilale Administrative Post of Baucau Municipality. The parents of the baby were diagnosed with Covid-19 on june 21 and two days later, the baby experienced fever and coughing, but his PCR test result was negative. On june 25, the baby was transferred to the Vera Cruz Isolation Center after being diagnosed with Covid-19 and died yesterday.
Since yesterday, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 779 PCR test, including 33 sentinel surveillance tests, 29 through contact tracing, 138 via random screening, 540 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 30 for the international travel authorization, and 9 in quarantines.
The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 3.7 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 8.9, Baucau 5.7 and Manatuto 4.0.
The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus in the country despite the ICGC’s records showing a slight drop in cases over the past week in the capital Dili and some municipalities.
There has been a total of 9.118 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 8.306 recoveries, active cases were 790 and 22 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.
