COVID-19 update: Timor-Leste registers 104 new cases, 54 recoveries, one death and active cases at 839

DILI, 30 june 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, records 104 new cases of COVID-19, with 54 recoveries, one death, and the active cases were 839.

Of the new cases, only 28 cases were detected in capital Dili, while 60 cases were identified in Ermera municipality and 16 cases from other municipalities, including 6 in Baucau, 5 in Viqueque, 2 each in Bobonaro and Manatuto, and 1 in Covalima.

The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 104 new cases, only 1.9 percent were symptomatic.

He said of the new cases, 98 were between the age of 12 and 59, including 6 elderly persons over 60.

Araujo informed that 14 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where 3 patients were in critical condition.

He said the ICGC also today recorded another death from Covid-19 in the capital Dili.

Araujo said the deceased was a 60-year-old woman living in Comoro, Dili. She was diagnosed with Covid-19 on june 29 and was transferred to the Vera Cruz Isolation Center on the same day. Apart from Covid-19, she had been suffering from diabetes and intestine cancer. The patient died yesterday at 5 pm local time.

In the last 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 797 PCR tests, including 5 sentinel surveillance tests, 125 through contact tracing, 58 via random screening, 556 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 33 for the international travel authorization, and 20 in quarantines.

The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 4.1 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 8.3, Ermera 6.2 and Baucau 4.9.

The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus in the country despite the ICGC’s records showing a slight drop in cases over the past week in the capital Dili and some municipalities.

There has been a total of 9.222 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 8.360 recoveries, active cases were 839 and 23 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.
