UNDP and SEEWAY offer life skills training to 32 Timorese

DILI, july 01, 2021 (TATOLI)- The United National Development Program (UNDP) along with the Organization of Support Employment for Youth and Women (SEEWAY) offers an entrepreneur training program for 32 Timorese youth, women, and disabilities to access the opportunity to gain experiences for life skill.

The 32 participants are the qualified participants among 434 students who have been applying for the SEEWAY training.

“Since last month SEEWAY opened the application for 434 students but only 99 students `were passed in a document selection and among 99 students 32 were qualified for the training,” The Project Manager of SEEDWAY project, Francelino Guterres said.

According to Mr Guterres, the qualified participants will get the opportunity to apprentice at some government private, institutions and some local and international non-government organizations (NGO), saying that there are 12 government and private institutions are available to welcome the participants to have the internships training with the duration of 3 months.

“SEEWAY will be allocated 32 participants to the training centers, in the first period however the participant will have two days briefing for service ethic and the degree of politeness, other than an entrepreneurship training program,” he said.

Mr. Guterres explained the reason for establishing this training is because most graduates students still lack life and work skills which led to much unemployment in this country.

“Thus, this training is provided by the SEEWAY in cooperation with UNDP and SEPFOPE with the aims to help improving life skills for the Timorese youth to compete for job opportunity,” he said.

According to Mr. Guterres, it has become a responsibility of the SEEWAY to help young people to gain life skills through training opportunities, and reduce the unemployment issue in Timor-Leste. therefore he encourages all young people to access the link for SEEWAY to get the opportunity for more training and improve their capacity and even can compete for a job opportunity in the future.
