DILI, 07 july 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, records 36 new cases of COVID-19, with 91 recoveries, and the active cases were 887.
Of the new cases, 26 cases were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were identified in the municipalities, including 4 in Baucau, 2 each in Bobonaro and Viqueque, and 1 each in Aileu and Ainaro municipality.
The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 36 new cases, 13.8 percent were symptomatic.
He said of today’s cases, the majority were between the ages of 12 and 59, and made up of 19 men and 17 women.
Araujo informed that 15 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where one patient was in critical condition.
Since yesterday, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 695 PCR tests, including 20 sentinel surveillance tests, 11 through contact tracing, 32 via random screening, 592 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 6 for the international travel authorization, and 33 in quarantines.
The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 4.0 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 10.0, Baucau 8.1, and Viqueque 4.2.
The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO, saying it is important for everyone to keep combating the spread of the virus in the country by obeying public health and social measures. Despite the country has been recording a relatively lower number of COVID-19 infections currently, in the capital Dili and some municipalities.
There has been a total of 9.594 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 8.682 recoveries, active cases were 887 and 25 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.
In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 218.601 (29 %) had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Of the number, around 26.358 (3.49 %) have also received their second dose of the vaccine.
