DILI, 09 july 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, records 53 new cases of COVID-19, with 42 recoveries, and the active cases were 915.
Of the new cases, 32 cases were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were identified in the municipalities, including 14 in Baucau, four in Viqueque, and one each in Bobonaro, Covalima and Ermera municipality.
The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 53 new cases, 11.3 percent were symptomatic.
He said of today’s cases, the 52 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including a child under 12. These new cases were made up of 33 men and 20 women.
Araujo informed that 14 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where one patient was in critical condition.
Since yesterday, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 771 PCR tests, including 7 sentinel surveillance tests, 101 through contact tracing, 26 via random screening, 614 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 2 for the international travel authorization and 21 in quarantines.
The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 3.8 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 9.0, Baucau 7.4, and Viqueque 4.3.
The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO, saying it is important for everyone to keep combating the spread of the virus in the country by obeying public health and social measures. Despite the country has been recording a relatively lower number of COVID-19 infections currently, in the capital Dili and some municipalities.
There has been a total of 9.710 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 8.770 recoveries, active cases were 915 and 25 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.
In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 226.150 (30.0%) had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Of the number, around 26.772 (3.55%) have also received their second dose of the vaccine.
