Philippine Embassy continues Community Pantry in Timor-Leste

DILI, 09 july 2021 (TATOLI)- Consul & Third Secretary Atty. Lasser Blitz B. Sumagaysay said the situation in Timor-Leste has seen major improvements since the april flash flood and the mandatory lockdown of Dili until june this year.

Because of that, Community Pantry Timor-Leste (CPTL) may soon be operating on monthly and on a case per case basis starting august 2021 as long as the situation in Timor-Leste continues to improve and work/ businesses resume as normal.

“A community pantry is a service that provides food directly to locals suffering from food insecurity. Some rely purely on local donations. Some coordinate with food banks and organizations for steady supplies of food and essential goods. Some also organize other socio-civic activities for patrons,” said Sumagaysay in Philippines Embassy, Farol, Dili to Journalists of TATOLI News Agency on friday.

Community Pantry is inspired by the Filipina Bayanihan Spirit with the philosophy that; Please Give what you can, please take what you only need for a day.
