DILI, 09 june 2021 (TATOLI) – The Government of Timor-Leste, through the Inter-Ministerial Commission for the COVID-19 Immunization, announced the launching of the second dose of Covid-19 AstraZeneca vaccine in capital Dili.
The spokesperson of the Inter-Ministerial Commission for the COVID-19 Immunization, Dr. Danina Coelho informed that up to 80.529 are waiting to receive their second shot of the COVID-19 AstraZeneca vaccine
“The commission keeps encouraging communities who haven’t received their first jab to go to the nearest vaccine centers to get vaccinated,’ Coelho made the comments during a press conference at the MSSI hall, in Dili, today
Coelho said those who have received their first shot must get their second jab to be fully vaccinated to increase their immune system against the virus.
So far, 117.027 of the population of Dili municipality have received their first dose of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, and of that number, 15.193 have received their second dose.
While in the municipalities, 109.511 people had been vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine, and of the number, 12.126 had received the second dose.
Coelho said the launch of the second dose of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine would take place on tuesday (13/07), next week.
So far, Timor-Leste has received a total of 399.800 vaccines, which are made up of 175.000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine given by the Australian Government, 124.800 from the COVAX Facility, and 100.000 Sinovac vaccines given by the Chinese Government.
As of friday, Timor-Leste has a total of 9.710 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 8.770 recoveries, active cases were 915 and 25 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.
