DILI, 12 july 2021 (TATOLI)-The Savings and Loans Cooperative for People with Disabilities (CCDTL) is proud to be able to compete with people without disabilities.
It is proven that people with disabilities can establish their own Savings and Loans Cooperative which has 373 members from people with disabilities throughout Timor-Leste.
“I am very proud because people with disabilities were also able to establish one of the CCDTL organizations in Timor-Leste from 2017, until now CCDTL has had 373 members and has had its own cash with the amount of $ 88.168.38,” revealed Evaristo da Conceição in his office Mascarenhas to Journalist of TATOLI News Agency on monday.
He explained that each new member is required to register with the money $ 35. From the $35 that was declared as the authorized capital, $5 for the printing of the customer’s book and $30 as the initial capital.
He added that from the 373 CCDTL members with $88.168.38 CCDTL had provided loans to members for business.
“This Savings and Loans Cooperative has provided members with loans from $200 – $4000 to do their business,” He said.
From this loan, some opened kiosks, some bought chickens to sell, some built houses and also used it for other small businesses.
The interest that they borrow is very small, only 3% and those who do not pay CCDTL on time will be penalized with one dolar.
CCDTL will also distribute profits to all CCDTL members every two years after being evaluated by the directive council.
Previously this CCDTL was inaugurated by the Deputy Minister of Commerce and Industry Filipus Nino Pereira on 29 march 2017.
This cooperative is an organization to socialize and mobilize to register people with disabilities including their families to become owners of this cooperative by depositing and borrowing money to revive and grow their economy in rural areas.
The purpose of this cooperative is to provide equal opportunities for people with disabilities and their families to participate in economic activities and assist people with disabilities by strengthening their economy by saving money so that they can enjoy their lives in the future, including the welfare of the nation.
The basic principles of CCDTL are solidarity with people with disabilities, promoting people inclusively, eliminating discrimination, volunteering, democracy, independent and strengthening the popular economy.
