COVID-19 update: Timor-Leste records 39 new cases, 32 recoveries and active cases at 909

DILI, 12 july 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, reports 39 new cases of COVID-19, with 32 recoveries, and the active cases were 909.

Of the new cases, 25 cases were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were identified in the municipalities, including nine in Baucau, three in Bobonaro, and one each in Ermera and Viqueque municipality.

The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 39 new cases, 7.6 percent were symptomatic.

He said of today’s cases, 35 cases were between the ages of 12 and 59, including a child under 12 and three elderly persons over 60. These new cases were made up of 27 men and 12 women.

Araujo informed that 15 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where one patient was in critical condition.

Since yesterday, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 383 PCR tests, including 36 testes through contact tracing, 24 via random screening, 204 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 39 for the international travel authorization, and 80 in quarantines.

The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 3.8 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 9.6, Baucau 6.7, and Viqueque 3.1.

The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO, saying it is important for everyone to keep combating the spread of the virus in the country by obeying public health and social measures. Despite the country has been recording a relatively lower number of COVID-19 infections currently, in the capital Dili and some municipalities.

There has been a total of 9.862 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 8.928 recoveries, active cases were 909 and 25 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 231.145 (30.6%) had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.  Of the number, around 34.053 (4.5%) have also received their second dose of the vaccine.
