DILI, 15 july 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, reports 37 new cases of COVID-19, with 61 recoveries, and the active cases were 890.
Of the new cases, 21 cases were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were identified in the municipalities, including ten in Baucau, four in Bobonaro, and one each in Liquiça and Viqueque municipality.
The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 37 new cases, 5.4 percent were symptomatic.
He said of today’s cases, 36 cases were between the ages of 12 and 59, including an elderly person over 60. These new cases made up of 23 men and 14 women.
Araujo informed that 16 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where three patients was in critical condition.
Since yesterday, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 661 PCR tests, including 11 sentinel surveillance tests, 80 through contact tracing, 72 via random screening, 499 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, and 32 in quarantines.
The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 3.7 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 9.2, and Baucau 7.6..
The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO, saying it is important for everyone to keep combating the spread of the virus in the country by obeying public health and social measures. Despite the country has been recording a relatively lower number of COVID-19 infections currently, in the capital Dili and some municipalities.
There has been a total of 9.997 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 9.082 recoveries, active cases were 890 and 25 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.
In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 241.906 (32.0%) had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Of the number, around 46.302 (6.13%) have also received their second dose of the vaccine.
