DILI, 19 july 2021 (TATOLI) – East Timor Development Agency (ETDA) is officially announced 40 young people participated for hospitality vocation training. The Secretary of State for Youth and Sport (SSYS) provided financial support for this program.
This program aims to train young people to gain professional skills in the hospitality industry, access job opportunities and create jobs for other people.
The 40 Timorese young people who are eligible to join in this training are selected from some youth groups training in nine municipalities composed of Ainaru, Aileu, Bobonaro, Liquiça, Dili, Ermera, Lautem, Manatuto and Baucau. They are qualified from some of the youth centers established at the municipality level.
The Secretary of State for Youth and Sport, Abrão Saldanha said that the government of Timor-Leste has a commitment to provide integrated programs and to build youth skill through vocational training.
“It is the most essential program to promote young people’s ability in the hospitality program, so they are able to work in the tourism sector. Hospitality program is the most important sector to ensure development sustainability,” The Secretary of State for Youth and Sport said to TATOLI Agency, at Bairo-Pite on this monday.
He added that SSYS considers that the one main issue of tourism development in TL is human resources, especially in hospitality sectors. This program is to increase young people knowledge how to provide good behavior, for welcoming guesses, within showing the attitude in politeness degree.
SSYS is budgeting this program the amount of forty one thousand nine, hundred and ninety five, American Dollar ($41.995)
The exclusive director of East Timor Development Agency (ETDA), Januario Neto Mok said that Timor-Leste is the youngest country among the ASIA Pacific region which has 1. 344.520 of the population based on the United Nation reported on Worldometers sources.
Thus, lots of young people are not getting the opportunity to access appropriate education, although they have finished study at high school and university level, and they still lack the professional skill to compete for job opportunities.
For 16 years EDTA has had the responsibility to respond to these gaps, and has carried out youth vocational training for 26 thousand young people. This program is responding to market demand for industry recommendations.
Mr. Mok said that ETDA focuses on vocational training with the method of theory and practice to ensure young people have enough skill to compete in the market and even they are able to create jobs of their own.
ETDA agency provides young people to contribute to country development to open job opportunities and employ other people to get permanent income and respond for their family needs.
In the hostility sector, EDTL is guiding young people to be professional chefs, bakers, and housekeepers and it is to respond to public demands to create a productive person at their community level.
