DILI, 27 july 2021 (TATOLI) – Eventual Technical Committee (KTE) organized a workshop on evaluation and preparation for the implementation of the Unique Identifier System.

Speaking at the workshop, the Coordinator of the Eventual Technical Committee (KTE), Roberto Caetano de Sousa Vicente said that the workshop aimed to evaluate all of the works that had been made so far, to better the preparation for the next steps.

“I can say that it is just the beginning and we still have a big task to accomplish ahead of us as it is defined in the integrated strategic plan that we have submitted to the Council of Ministers, on 26 May 2021. You know, the Council of Ministers, at the time appreciated all the works that had been done by KTE for the implementation of the Unique Identifier System,” said Vicente.

Vicente called on all KTE staff members to keep working and putting in efforts until the Unique Identifier System was successfully established.

“Thus, Secretary of the Unique Identifier System team had undertaken evaluation regarding all of the works that had been done, to produce a good plan for the implementation of the system. According to plan, the Unique Identifier System will be established before 2025,” said Vicente.

At the same place, the KTE’s spokesperson of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM), Fausto Gama informed that the workshop was a continuation of the previous work regarding the implementation of the Unique Identifier System: “We have been putting a lot of efforts to implement the Digital Identity System for Timorese people and also for foreign nationals who are residing in the country.”

“This workshop is realized to have a real preparation as part of our integrated strategic plan for the implementation of the Unique Identifier System. So, today we will have a look at the institutional framework of the Unique Identifier System,” said Gama.

He said KTE will oversee the entire implementation of the Unique Identifier System: “Today, a temporary team was established with a temporary mission to implement the existing integrated strategic plan that had been approved previously by the Council of Ministers, hoping that they will exercise their defined role successfully together with the Orientation Commission.”

“We hope that through this workshop, we will gather some brilliant thoughts and ideas on how to step forward with the implementation of this Unique Identifier System,” said Gama.
