DILI, 29 july 2021 (TATOLI) – The Government of Timor-Leste, through the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers, on Wednesday, has decided to impose isolation zone restricting in Ermera and renews in Dili.
The imposes of sanitary fence in Ermera municipality will be in force between 00:00 July 29, 2021, and 23:59 august 12th, 2021.
“National travel between Ermera and Dili is banned under most circumstances in the current lockdown. A lockdown will be imposed in Ermera and Dili for two weeks from midnight Thursday with residents asked to not move out of the restriction zone unless necessary reasons to leave the areas, including public security, public health, humanitarian assistance, maintenance of the public supply system or any other reasons that serve the public interest. While the movement of the fully vaccinated citizens is not banned with the new lockdown regulations,” said Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães, at the Government Palace, in Dili, on Wednesday.
The decision was made following the presentation of the Integrated Crisis Management Center (SIJK) on the situation of the Covid-19 in the country.
“The reason for imposing isolation zone restriction in Ermera municipality was due to a drastic rise of the cases in the municipality. On Wednesday, health authorities reported 123 cases of Covid-19, the highest number recorded in a single day since the outbreak in the municipality,” Said Magalhães.
He said IZR is unlike home confinement, in which communities are free to move around within the lockdown areas, whereas home confinement is forcing communities to stay home.
Apart from Ermera, the government also extends the isolation zone restricting in capital Dili until 23:59, august 12th, and 2021.
