Coliati hopes US-TL Joint Military Exercise to continue in the future

DILI, 06 august 2021 (TATOLI) – The Brigadier-General of the Timorese National Defense Force (F-FDTL),  Calisto dos Santos Coli ‘Coliati’ said he was expecting the same United States-Timor-Leste Military Joint Exercise, known as ‘Dalan Ba Dame’ to happen in the future.

“We hope that the ‘Dalan Ba Dame’ Joint Military Exercise of US-TL will continue in the future. So that, the army of both countries can continue the existing ties in the defense sector, as well as, other sectors including engineering, and health,” Coliati made the comments following the closing ceremony of the US-TL Joint Military Exercise, in Baucau, today.

Coliati said the main objective of the Joint Military Exercise was to strengthen the bilateral defense cooperation of both countries, particularly on exchanging experience, military operations, and culture.

“We learn the culture of the Americans, as well as the US Army personnel, learn Timor-Leste’s culture, history, tradition, and lifestyle from our soldiers. This exercise will strengthen our bilateral cooperation and friendship,” said Coilati.

The 2-week joint military exercise began on july 26 and was concluded today.

During the 2-week joint exercise, the US team was led by Colonel Santa Croce, while Captain Noguera Laranjinha was leading Timor-Leste’s team.

The closing ceremony of the joint military exercise between the US-TL Army, ‘Dalan Ba Dame’ was held in Baucau and attended by Thomas Daley, the Interim Ambassador of US to Timor-Leste, Bacau Municipal Authority, the National Council of Combatants of National Liberation of Baucau Municipality and other relevant entities.
