COVID-19 update: Timor-Leste records 161 new cases, 56 recoveries and active cases at 1.265

DILI, 06 august 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, registers 161 new cases of COVID-19, with 56 recoveries, and the active cases were 1.265.

Of the new cases, 63 were detected in Dili, while the rest were identified in other municipalities, including 69 Ermera, 13 in Covalima, six in Baucau, five in RAEOA, two in Bobonaro, and one each Aileu, Manufahi, and Viqueque municipality.

The spokesperson of SIJK, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said of today’s cases, 15.5 percent were symptomatic.

He said of today’s cases, 147 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including six children under 12, and eight elderly persons over 60. These new cases are made up of 94 men and 67 women.

Araujo informed that 18 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where one was in critical condition, three were in moderate condition, and 14 were in mild condition.

In the last 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 818 PCR tests, including 74 sentinel surveillance tests, 249 through contact tracing, 18 via random screening, 440 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 23 for the international travel authorization and 14 in quarantines.

The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 7.0 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Ermera 33.2, Dili 8.0 and Covalima 7.0.

The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus as the ICGC’s records showed cases are mounted in Ermera municipality.

There has been a total of 11.386 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 10.095 recoveries, active cases were 1.265, and 26 deaths, according to data of the Ministry of Health.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 41.2 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 14.3 percent have also received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
