SEFOPE funds 14 youth training centers with US$ 423.050.35

DILI, 06 august 2021 (TATOLI) – The Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Employment (SEFOPE), today, signed an agreement with 14 training centers on youth capacity building and training.

Through the agreement, the 14 Youth Training Centers will receive financial support provided by SEFOPE to conduct capacity building and training to address the skill gap needed by many young Timorese.

Of the US$ 423.050.35, Comoro Youth Vocational Training Center (STVJ-Comoro) would receive US$ 53.491.00, Camea Youth Vocational Training Center (STVJ-Camea) received US$ 35.063.50, Bairro-Pite Youth Vocational Training Center (STVJ-Bairro-Pite) received US$15.850.50, Dili Youth Vision Training Center (STVF-Dili) received US$21.327.00, Balide Computer Training Center (CFSC) received US$15.775.00, Hamutuk Ita Ajuda Malu (HIAM-Heath) received US$23.390.00, Baucau Community Development Center (CDC-Baucau) received 74.028.50, Integral Development Training Center (CTID-Baucau) received US$31.888.50, CLARET Salaele-Suai received US$ 41.589.00, Canossa Vocational Training Center (CVTC-Suai) received US$23.408.45, Gleno Youth Vocational Training Centre (STVJ-Gleno) received US$36.794.00, Integrated Institute of Matadalan (IMI-Gleno) received 9.532.40, Dressmaker Training Centre (CFIC-Fuiluro) received US$25.820.00, and Youth and Children Integral Training Center (CFIJC-Manatuto) received US$ 15.092.50.

Speaking at the ceremony of signing the agreement, the State Secretary for Vocational Training and Employment (SEFOPE), Alarico de Rosário said that the financial support was given to enhance the training programs of the 14 training centers to better boost the capacity of the young Timorese.

“Capacity building and training were one of the government priority programs, focusing on building the skills of Timorese young people to not only compete in the country but at the regional level as well,” Rosario made the comments during the ceremony of signing the agreement at SEFOPE’s conference hall, in Dili, today.

He said of the 229 registered training centers in Timor-Leste, only 14 were eligible to receive the financial support.

Rosario called the 14 training centers to prepare good trainers with goods skills to ensure the quality of training in each training center: “We need to make a significant change to prepare our young people with adequate skills so that they could compete at the regional and international level.”

At the same place, the Coordinator of the Balide Computer Training Center (CFSC), Sister Ivonia Belo said that it was the biggest financial support her training center had received so far: “This financial support will help us to achieve our goal of improving the skills of our young people on the public administration.”

“So far, more than 900 young Timorese had been trained at CFSC on public administration, and about 60 percent had been employed,” said Belo.

In addition, the Director of the National Institute for Labour Force Development (INDMO), Isabel Fernandes de Lima called on the 14 training centers to execute the money properly to better improve the skills of the young people to compete in the labor market, especially at the regional and international level.
