DILI, 09 august 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, registers another death, 50 new cases, 2 recoveries, and the active cases were 1.422.
Of the new cases, 25 were detected in Dili, while the rest were identified in other municipalities, including seven in RAEOA, five in Covalima, four each in Bobonaro and Aileu, three in Ermera and two in Baucau municipality.
The spokesperson of SIJK, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said of today’s cases, 36 percent were symptomatic.
He said of today’s cases, 44 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including three children under 12, and three elderly persons over 60. These new cases are made up of 25 men and 25 women.
Araujo informed that 30 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where five were in critical condition, four in moderate condition, 22 were in mild condition.
He said the SIJK also today recorded another death from Covid-19 in the capital Dili.
Araujo said the deceased was a 26-year-old woman from Maliana, Bobonaro. She was transferred to National Hospital Guido Valadares (HNGV) on august 8, to have the dead fetus removed from her womb. After the surgery, the condition of the patients kept deteriorating and died today at around 12 pm local time.
In the last 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 168 PCR tests, including five sentinel surveillance tests, 52 through contact tracing, 79 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, two for international travel authorization and 30 in quarantines.
The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 6.5 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Ermera 20.1, Dili 9.8, Covalima 6.7 and RAEOA 7.3.
The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus as the ICGC’s records showed cases are mounted in Ermera municipality.
There has been a total of 11.579 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 10.129 recoveries, active cases were 1.422 and 28 deaths, according to data of the Ministry of Health.
In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 42.1 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 14.7 percent have also received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Delta Variant Cases
Timor-Leste’s health authorities records 12 cases of the SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant in Ermera municipality.
“Of the 20 samples of the COVID-19 confirmed cases sending for urgent test in the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and immunity, on july 29, in Melbourne, Australia, indicated that 12 cases of Delta variant were identified in the Ermera municipality,” Araujo said in a statement, today.
