TL-Australia sign agreement for the construction of Hera port

DILI, 13 august 2021 (TATOLI)– Timor-Leste and Australia signed the ‘Port Hera Infrastructure Arrangement’ for Timor-Leste’s two Guardian-class Patrol Boats.

The agreement was signed by Australia’s Ambassador Peter Robert and Timor-Leste’s Defense Ministre, Filomeno Paixão at the Ministry of Defense office Fatuhada Dili today.

Australia’s Ambassador Peter Robert said this is the cooperation between the Australian Government and the Timor Leste Ministry of Defense to reconstruct the Hera navy port.

“The Australian government will reconstruct the Navy Port Hera, set up for two Guardian-class Patrol Boats, and the two boats will be coming from Australia next year after the construction is completed. The infrastructure development is an exciting step in our defense partnership as we continue to work together to support maritime security in our region,” Australian Ambassador to Timor Leste Peter Robert told reporters at the Ministry of Defense Force Fatuhada Dili today.

Ambassador  Robert added that, the two patrol boats is offered by Australian Government to Timor-Leste to support the work of maritime security in Timor-Leste.

At the same place, Timor Leste’s Minister of Defense Filomeno Paixao appreciates the arrangement provides by the Australian Government to support maritime security.

“On this occasion on behalf of Timor Leste Government I would like to thank the government of Australia through the Embassy of Australia in Timor Leste at this time,” Paixão said.
