DILI, 22 august 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, reports two more deaths, 235 new cases, 57 recoveries, and the active cases were 3.264.
Of the new cases, 183 were detected in Dili, while the rest were identified in the municipalities, including 31 in Covalima, 13 in Manufahi, five in Ainaro, two in Baucau, and one in Bobonaro.
The spokesperson of SIJK, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said of today’s cases, 23.8 percent were symptomatic.
He said of today’s cases, 170 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including 59 cases under 20 and six elderly persons over 60. These new cases are made up of 111 men and 124 women.
Araujo informed that 65 Covid-19 cases had been admitted to Vera Cruz Isolation Center for intensive, with 17 people in critical condition, three of whom required ventilation.
In the last 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 431 PCR tests, including 22 sentinel surveillance tests, 210 through contact tracing, 25 via random screening, 150 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 16 for the international travel authorization, and eight in quarantines.
Today, SIJK registered two more deaths in Timor-Leste.
The deceased was a man in his 70s, who was diagnosed with Covid-19 and transferred to the Vera Cruz Isolation Center (VCIC) on august 21. He passed away yesterday at around 7.pm local time due to multiple organ failures.
Another deceased was a woman in her 60s, who was diagnosed with Covid-19 and admitted to the OeCusse Referral Hospital august 18. She passed away today at 12.55 am local time due to multiple organ failures.
The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 17.9 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 47.0 Manufahi 23.2, Covalima 13.7, RAEOA 11.1, Baucau and Manatuto 7.5, and Ainaro 7.2.
The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus as the SIJK’s records showed cases are again mounted in Dili, Ermera, and several municipalities.
There has been a total of 14.216 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 10.904 recoveries, active cases were 3.264 and 48 deaths, according to SIJK’s data.
In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 48.3 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 21.7 percent have also received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
