ADTL recommends the entire Ministries to support the Disabilities’ program

DILI, 23 august 2021 (TATOLI)– Director of Asociation for people with disability in Timor-Leste (ADTL), Sezario da Silva said ADTL is conducting advocacy to remind all Ministries to set the budget especially to People with Disabilities in Timor – Leste.

According to Silva, Currently, the Government through all the Ministries has conducted consultations on the preparation for the 2022 annual budget (OJE). Based on the preparation of the 2022 OJE, ADTL is conducting advocacy to remind all Ministries to place a budget especially for People with Disabilities in Timor – Leste.

“We need help from the government, We wish all the ministries will place the budget for disability programs,” said Silva.

He explained that the fate of People with Disabilities must be considered because it is very sensitive, therefore ADTL expects the government to pay attention to their fate in the future.

“We have many training programs such as electronic training program, Portuguese language course, English course, computer courses, electricity program, and this programs have been the national programs thus we hope that these programs are involved in the Government program as well,” he said. 

According to Mr. Silva Timor-Leste currently registered around 38,188 people with disabilities nationally, therefore, ADTL expects the government to focus its attention on this number of disabilities.
