DILI, 02 September 2021 (TATOLI) – Nearly 4856 population from four sub-villages in the Dili Administrative post of Kristu Rei do not have access to clean water from the government during this time.

“My population from 4 sub-villages do not have access to the clean water from the government since Timor Leste’s independence, the sub-villages are Laulora, Manleuana, Bena Mauk and Ramelau with a population of 4856 from 789 households,” Head of Kamea village, Matos da Costa told TATOLI via phonecall today.

However, these populations have been accessing the clean water supply from the Timor-Leste Red Cross (CVTL) and Plan International and sometimes the population gets the water from the water well.

“A few months ago the population from the four villages had accessed to the clean water prepared by the CVTL, water tank prepared by CVTL and Plan International but this for this month the water drums have been removed thus the population are getting the water from the water well,” he said.

According to Costa, they have submitted the proposal to the Department of Water and have positive responses, saying the team from the Water and Sanitation Department will provide the water to the village in 2022.
