OJE 2022: MEJD-INCT propose an additional budget of US$ 13 million

DILI, 08 september 2021 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEJD) and the National Institute of Science and Technology (INCT) requested an additional budget of US$ 13 million, after considering the General State Budget for the Fiscal Year 2022, allocated by the Ministry of Finance to MEJD wasn’t enough.

Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Armindo Maia informed that MEJD had already prepared several programs to be implemented in 2022, saying, therefore, the proposed actual budget of US$ 80 million wasn’t sufficient to cover the planned programs: “An additional budget of US$ 13 million is needed to implement these programs.”

“We are trying to work it out whether the US$ 80 can cover all of these programs. But, it is not enough, and therefore the additional budget was needed,” Maia told reporters at the Ministry of Finance, in Dili, today.

At the same place, the President of the Executive Board of the National Institute of Science and Technology (INCT), Jose Cornelio Guterres said that the proposed budget for the INCT, by the Ministry of Finance (MoF), totaling US$ 417.000 was not enough.

“Therefore, an additional budget of US$ 460.000 was requested during the discussion with the Budget Review Committee (BRC),” said Guterres.

Regarding the execution of the 2021 OJE, Guterres revealed that INCT had so far executed 63 percent: “By the end of this year, the execution of the 2021 OJE of INCT will reach 80 to 90 percent.”
