New Zealand Government constructs Kindergarten School in Afaloikai

Viqueque, 16 september 2021 ( TATOLI)– The Government of New Zealand through the Embassy of New Zealand in Timor- Leste had been constructed one of the Kindergarten School buildings in Afaloikai, sub municipality of Vatulari, municipality of Viqueque.

The Kindergarten School Building was inaugurated by the Vice Minister of Education, Youth, and Sport (MoEYS) Antonio Guterres and the Ambassador of New Zealand, Philip Hewitt.
Vice Minister of MoEYS Antonio Guterres said this Kindergarten School building will accumulate the students from Kindergarten to have safe places during the learning process.

“I am very regretful to the people of Afaloikai for the cooperation on building one of the school Kindergarten building in Afaloikai even though spend the small fund,” said Guterres to Tatoli reporter in Vatulari, Afaloikai on Wednesday.

In the same place Ambassador of New Zealand to Timor -Leste, Philip Hewitts said this building is completed through hard work and collaboration with the UNICEF and the community in Vatulari, Afaloikai village.

“Our Mission in Timor Leste is to help the education and we are not alone but New Zealand Embassy always works together with UNICEF and MoEYS to develop the quality of Education in Timor Leste,” said Hewitt.

Head of Village of Afaloikai Constantino Guterres on behalf of the population of Afaloikai give the deepest gratitude and thanked the government of New Zealand and UNICEF for the construction of one unit of a Kindergarten school in this village.

“We promised to take care of this school for a long time using,” said Guterres.

The School building will be used by 128 students and 8 teachers.

The building was built by the community of Afaloikai with a total fund of US$2,500 from the Government of New Zealand through the Embassy of New Zealand in Timor- Leste.
