ETBU seeks donors to support their activities

DILI,21 september 2021 (TATOLI)– Director of East Timor Blind Union ( ETBU) Jacinto Pereira, said, at the moment ETBU has come across the difficulty to run its program, saying the ETBU has a limited budget to run their programs.

“ETBU have two principal program such as Non-formal Education and small businesses however the whole activities are ineffective due to limited budget,” said Pereira told Tatoli at his office Becora Dili.

He said in 2019 The United Nation Development Program (UNDP) has donated US$ 9,000 to support ETBU ‘s program but these fund had spent to empower all the small business of from the members of ETBU ‘s across Timor – Leste at the same time spending for the brille letter training for the ETBU members but now all these programs had stopped because there is no more budget. ETBU has 3000 members accross the Timor – Leste.

Pereira hope that the government and International Organization in Timor Leste can stand over with ETBU to support their activities.

According to Perreira he had submitted proposal request for the support from the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion but there is yet to responds: “I have submitted the proposal to the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion (MSSI) but  no answer until today,” he said.
