Covid-19 Update: TL records 17 new cases, 125 recoveries

DILI, 05 october 2021 (TATOLI) – In the past 24 hours, Timor-Leste recorded 17 new COVID-19 cases, 125 recoveries, and the active cases dropped to 440, Rui Maria de Araujo Coordinator of the Integrated Crisis Management Center (SIJK) says.

According to today’s figure, ten new cases were detected in Dili, four in RAEOA, and three in Bobonaro.

Of the 17 new cases, 47 percent were fully vaccinated, citizens. These new cases include seven men and 10 women.

Araujo said 13 of the new cases were between the ages of 12 and 59, including two cases under 20 and two elderly persons over 60.

He said 52.9 percent of today’s cases were symptomatic.

There are 28 people with COVID-19 in hospital and five of those are in critical condition, with one on a ventilator.

Araujo has given details on the patient who had lost his life to the Covid-19.

A man in his 70s is from Dili. He was diagnosed with Covid-19 on September 17 and was under intensive treatment at Lahane Isolation Center. He died today at 11.40 am local time.

In the past 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 140 PCR tests, including one via sentinel surveillance test, 61 via random screening, 60 for the international travel authorization, and 18 in quarantines.

The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus.

Since Timor-Leste’s outbreak began in April 2020, the country has recorded 19.609 cases, 19.050 recoveries, and 119 deaths.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 61.4 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 38.3 percent have been fully vaccinated.
