Lautem,06 october 2021 ( TATOLI)– New Zealand is committed to supporting Timor Leste in the agriculture sector to escalate the nutrition and economic income in the country.
Ambassador of New Zealand in Timor Leste Philip Hewitt is proud to support the Government of Timor – Leste through the cooperation with WorldFish Research Institution to create the fish seed tank in Parlamento Village, Sub Administrative of Lautem, municipality of Lautem and Leohitu village Balibo, Bobonaro municipality.
“The beginning of the fish seed Centre in Parlamento village is ideal through the Private sector Investment and the arrangement of public-private partners( PPP) which can share constructive ideas to the farmer who wishes to keep the fish,” Ambassador Philip Hewitt informed the media at Parlamento Village Tuesday.
At the same place, The Government of New Zealand wishes people can access nutritious food to reduce the issue of malnutrition to children and families in Timor – Leste.
New Zealand has donated $ 15,000 to World fish through the local company of Blackbird and at the same time established one fish seed center at the Parlamento Village.
The center was established on June-August 2019 while in 2021 around 200,000 fish have been harvesting and 150.000 baby fish have been prepared to distribute to the communities in other places.
