Covid-19 Update: TL records 20 new cases, 26 recoveries

DILI, 07 october 2021 (TATOLI) – In the past 24 hours, Timor-Leste recorded 20 new COVID-19 cases, 26 recoveries, and the active cases dropped to 295, Rui Maria de Araujo Coordinator of the Integrated Crisis Management Center (SIJK) says.

According to today’s figure, 15 new cases were detected in Dili, three in Manufahi, and one each in Baucau and Bobonaro.

Araujo said 65 percent of the new cases are fully vaccinated, while five percent have received a least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. These four new cases include 12 men and eight women.

Of the new cases, 19 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including a case under 20.

Araujo said 25 percent of today’s cases were symptomatic.

There are 22 people with COVID-19 in hospital and five of those are in critical condition, with two on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 124 PCR tests, including 30 through random screening, 88 for the international travel authorization, and six in quarantines.

The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus.

Since Timor-Leste’s outbreak began in April 2020, the country has recorded 19.633 cases, 19.219 recoveries, and 119 deaths.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 62.9 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 39.5 percent have been fully vaccinated.
