DILI, 14 october 2021 (TATOLI)– The Secretary of State for Culture and Art (SSCA) Teofilo Caldas said one major program of SSCA is to verify, renovate and construct the traditional sacred houses across Timor – Leste.
“In 2021 SSCA’s s team has verified the traditional sacred houses across the Timor-Leste to renovate the houses for the traditional used, the sacred house is Timor-Leste maid identity,” Teofilo Caldas told reporters in SSCA ‘ s office Pantai Kelapa, Dili.
Additionally, the SSCA had set up $200.000 in the 2021 State budget to reinforce the cultural ethnics for the construction and rehabilitation of the sacred traditional house in every village.
At the same place, General Director of SSCA Manuel Smith justify that SSCA had assisted the rehabilitation of the 82 traditional sacred houses across the Timor- Leste.
“During this time our team had verified 82 traditional sacred houses in the national territory of Timor -Leste and had facilitated them by using the available amount of $ 200,000 to construct the sacred houses,” He said.
The traditional sacred houses has different designs but similar materials are used for the construction of sacred houses, composed of dry coconut leaf, palm leaf, wood, and the other natural material in Timor – Leste.
The SSCA’s priority is to construct and renovate these sacred houses and this is one course of action to show to another country that Timor-Leste has its own identity that is inherited by the ancestors from generation to generation.
