Timor-Leste celebrates 46th Independence day in United Arab Emirate

Dubai, 18 October 2021 (TATOLI)– Timor-Leste Delegation in the UAE culminated week-long celebrations to mark the country’s 46th Independence Day.

Kick-starting the national day celebrations is an event organized by Timor-Leste Community and Timor-Leste Economy Affair at Dubai on Monday (October 18) at 10 am.

A variety of Cultural presentations and events were organized including flag rising, Cultural dancing performance, the shows about Timorese farmers cultivating local crops to demonstrate the 65% of Timorese local people working on the farm, and The art shows of EXPO 2020 which received a lot of attention from the international audiences.

Timor -Leste national Day (28 November 2021) is considered the most important event of Timor at Expo 2020 Dubai with the participation of senior leaders from the United Emirate Arab country, Minister of State, Mr. Ahmad Alir Shay, and the Cabinet delegation from TL.

The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and Coordination, Joaquin Amaral while giving a speech at the commemoration event said, “The celebration of the country’s independence at Expo 2020 Dubai is the main event for the country to declare to the world that Timor-Leste has gained its independence.

“This event is organized by every country in Expo 2020 Dubai, especially countries affected by COVID-19, the consequences of COVID-19 all countries including Timor-Leste are diversifying their economies to contribute to the economic growth of these countries, “

Amaral said this celebration brought Timor-Leste in a position to state to the 192 participating countries of Expo 2020 Dubai, about Timor-Leste’s desire in developing its diversified economy to contribute to the goal of a Sustainable Economy.

“Timor-Leste one of the participants in Expo 2020 Dubai to diversify and boost the economic growth within promoting all States own resources,” Joaquim Amaral in his remarks at the celebration of Timor-Leste day at Dubai expo 2020.

The United Emirates will strive to support economic diversification through potential and productive areas, including Oil, Minerals, Tourism, Arts and Culture, Agriculture, Transportation, and telecommunications to support the country’s economic growth.

The minister and state of the United Arab Emirates, Mr. Ahmad Bin Aly Al Sayegh, in his remarks said, “The United Arab Emirates is proud of Timor-Leste’s commitment to join the international event.

“My visit to the Timor-Leste Pavilion to see the culture, local products, handicrafts of Timor-Leste artists, and other things that show the potential of Timor-Leste, we hope that more visitors will come and visit this pavilion,” the Minister and country of the United Arab Emirates, Mr. Ahmad Bin Aly Al Sayegh told a report at the Timor-Leste pavilion at the Dubai expo, this Monday. 

Mr. Sayegh added that the United Arab Emirates is open to supporting the Government of Timor-Leste to boost the country’s economic growth including Tourism, Trade,  Industry, transportation communications, and Oil, Minerals.
