DILI, 22 october 2021 (TATOLI) – In the past 24 hours, Timor-Leste recorded 10 new cases, 16 recoveries, and the active dropped to 67, said Rui Maria de Araujo, the Coordinator of the Integrated Crisis Management Center (SIJK).
According to today’s figure, eight of the new cases were detected in Dili and one each in Covalima and Viqueque.
Araujo said 70 percent of the new cases were symptomatic, adding all of the 10 cases are unvaccinated.
Seven of the new cases were between the ages of 12 and 59, including two cases under 20 and an elderly person over 60. These new cases include two men and eight women.
There are eight people with COVID-19 in hospital and, two of those are in critical condition, which is one on a ventilator.
In the past 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 39 PCR tests, including eight via sentinel surveillance, 19 via random screening, eight for international travel authorization and four in quarantines.
The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus.
Since Timor-Leste’s outbreak began in April 2020, the country has recorded 19.759 cases, 19.572 recoveries, and 120 deaths.
In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 70.1 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 45.5 percent have been fully vaccinated.
