DILI, 10 november 2021 (TATOLI)- Secretary of State for Youth and Sport (SoSYS),Abrão Saldanha, met with the President of the Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo to invite him to preside over the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Santa Cruz Massacre.
“Today, we came here to invite the Head of State to participate in the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Santa Cruz Massacre on november 12. We also present a number of activities to the President, which will be carried out during the celebration. President Lu Olo accepted the invitation and will attend the commemoration to preside over the ceremony,” Saldanha told reporters after meeting the President of the Republic, at the Palace of the President, Dili, today.
Saldanha revealed that the theme for the Commemoration of the anniversary of the Santa Cruz Massacre is “Young people play leading roles in fighting Covid-19 with the spirit of the Santa Cruz Massacre.”
He said there will be several activities to be carried during the commemoration, including competitions of public speaking (speeches), music, concerts, and so on.
The Santa Cruz Massacre will be celebrate in other municipalities and administrative posts across Dili.
“There will be a reflection activity on November 11, and the commemoration will commence with a mass on November 12, at Motael church and then march to the Santa Cruz Cemetery,” he said.
The government allocated more than US$40.000 for the celebration of the event.
