DILI, 03 december 2021 (TATOLI) – The General Director of Arts and Culture, Manuel Smith Ximenes informed that United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris will announce TAIS TIMOR as an immaterial cultural asset for Timor–Leste.
“Tais Timor has been agreed by UNESCO as an immaterial cultural asset and this Tais has been introduced by UNESCO to the world therefore it will be announced by UNESCO on December 16 this year,” Smith told reporters at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Culture in Colmera on thursday.
To welcome this official announcement, the Secretary of State for Arts and Culture has made preparations to celebrate this achievement. Timor Leste is honored because Tais Timor had registered as one of the elements of cultural and immaterial assets in the world after 20 years of Independence.
“UNESCO will declare Tais Timor as a wealth of immaterial cultural of Timor – Leste,” said Smith.
It is known that on March 3, 2020, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture through the State Secretariat for Arts and Culture has registered Tais Timor at UNESCO to be selected as a Cultural and Immaterial Asset for Timor – Leste.
