DILI, 09 december 2021 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Health (MS) recorded, between November and December, 70 cases of dengue fever throughout the country.
Director of the Dili Health Center, Agustinha Saguradu, said that from November to December the Dili Health Office had treated more than 70 children with dengue fever.
“We can’t predict cases because disease comes along with the weather, the number can increase and decrease depending on the weather and the environment we live in,” said Seguradu.
Seguradu said, Based on 2021 data from the Ministry of Health, 502 children from Dili City were infected with dengue fever, of 502 cases, 251 cases were recorded at Dom Aleixo Health Center, 100 cases were recorded at Cristo Rei Health Center, Nain Feto Health Center recorded 71 cases, Vera Cruz Health Center recorded around 50 cases, the Atauro Sub Health Center recorded 1 case and the Metinaro Health Center recorded 3 cases of dengue fever. Meanwhile, of the 502 cases, 500 have recovered and 2 other children are still under medical treatment.
“We are grateful that the number of diseases has decreased and there are no confirmed deaths recorded in 2021 compared to 2020, the Authority recorded 807 cases and 7 children died of dengue fever,” She said.
Regarding the number of dengue cases, Seguradu in the same place encouraged residents to clean around their homes to prevent mosquitoes breeding grounds and visit the nearest Health Center to get quick treatment if they experience symptoms of dengue.
