DILI, 6 december, 2021 (TATOLI)- The government of Timor –Leste through the Secretary State of Environment (SSE) and Japanese Genetic Solution Company JGSC) signed Access Benefit Sharing (ABS) program, to conduct researches biodiversity on Timorese natural resources.
The Secretary of State for the Environment, Demétrio Amaral De Carvalho said that the objective of the Access Benefits Sharing (ABS) program is signed to acknowledged the importance of research on biodiversity.
“It is to develop a new high method for measuring natural variation at the genetic level led to a considerable impact of evolutionary biology on the biological sciences,” The Secretary of State for the Environment, Demétrio Amaral De Carvalho told reporters at his office in Mandarin, on Wednesday (jan,5,022)
He said Timor-Leste is a tiny country surrounded by the ocean, which contains a diversification of natural resources, therefore it requires more researches to identify the evolutionary biology influences significantly hypotheses also requires research programs in other areas of natural sciences.
Timor-Leste must increase fundamental knowledge of the evolutionary process underlying biodiversity and its variation is necessary to understand many biological systems.
The President of Nimura Genetic Solutions Company, Satoshi Nimura said this agreement is made to help the SSE conduct researcher to identify the biodiversity of natural resources in Timor-Leste.
“I have surveyed in many areas across Timor-Leste. It has big potential on the biodiversity of natural resources. It is needed to develop those genetic for biological sciences, thus we intend to help Timor-Leste strategy on developing the access benefit sharing (ABS. It is avoided illegally taken biodiversity of nature in the sea and the jungle,” said Satoshi Nimura.
It is known that in the previous years some foreign companies were illegally taking away more than 500 coral reefs around Tutuala oceans. Thus is requires more protection on natural resources from the country, (Timor-Leste).
Nimura Genetic Solutions Company wishes to help Timor-Leste to develop the protocol and understanding procedures, to be able to introduce the country’s biodiversity of the natural resources to the foreign or to the world.
This is a 4 years project, it starts in 2020 and will end in 2024. This project is funded by the global environment fund for 1.3 million USD.
