SEPFOPE held a meeting with 23 workers before leaving for Australia

DILI, 13 january 2022 (TATOLI)- The Secretary of State for Vocational and Employment Training (SEFOPE) through the National Directorate of Foreign Workers (NDFE) held a meeting with 23 Timorese workers candidates before leaving to Australia.

The National Director of Foreign Employment (NDFE) Filomeno Soares said, the meeting aimed at providing them clean and detailed information regarding the criteria and requirements that they need to fulfill before leaving for Australia.

“The PDP that we transmitted to our workers is about the information and working criteria in Australia and the company that they will work for including the rules and law imposed by the Australian Government that they need to fulfill,” Soares told reporters in Fatuhada, ETDA, Dili today.

Soares also said that, with this briefing program, the workers will have the awareness and open their minds to avoid scaping from the system. 

At the same place, Timorese worker Victorino Nunes da Costa said, they are selected to work in Australia through different kinds of tests, English language testing, medical tests, and physical tests, saying this is a great opportunity for them.

“We promise to comply with all the rules and regulations imposed by the Australian Government and the companies in Australia, to gain their trust to demand more Timorese workers to work in Australia,” he said. 

The 23 Timorese workers are male, they will depart to Australia in January 2022 and february 6, 2022 with the period of working 6 to nine months.

Following the data recorded from SEPFOPE, more than 1000 Timorese workers are currently working in Australia from 2014-2020.
