Furak Kreative purchased more than 20,000 tons of rice for national consumption in 2022

Dili, 18 january, 2021 (TATOLI)- Responding to 137,800 tons of rice for national consumption, Furak Kreative purchased more than 20,000 tons of rice for national consumption in 2022.

Kreative’s Assistance Manager, Yati Zaka said, by 2022, Kreative Furak had purchased more than 20,000 tons of rice from three countries.

“We imported more than 20,000 tons of rice from India, Pakistan, and Vietnam. The procurement process is carried out every three months,” said Creative Assistant Manager, Yati Zaka to Tatoli at her office in Bidau, January 18, this Tuesday.

He added that there are two types of rice, namely Tali Merah and Columbus. Furak Kreative is offered at a standard price of around 12.75 and 13.00 USD for 25 kg of rice.

As such, it hangs at an emotional price due to global issues like covid-19 and catastrophic situations.

Kearitve Furak provided around 6 to 7 million USD for the process of procuring rice from three different countries.

On the other hand, the General Coordinator of the Lisun PHK group, Pascoal Suri Mali, said that currently, 15,000 tons of rice are provided in a warehouse in Dili.

This week we just unloaded 12 containers of rice from the ship. Thus, 4,200 tons of rice are provided every three months.

Mr. Mali highly appreciates the five largest rice supplying companies in Timor-Leste who are committed to ensuring rice stocks meet the demands of the national market.

4 national supply companies are committed to providing rice to meet national needs, such as Perissos, Lisun, Kreative Furak, and Alfa-Dili.

Previously, the Director-General of the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Maria Do Céu Gutters, said Timor-Leste needs 137,800 tons of rice to respond to its 1.3 million population who needs rice consumption per year.
