DILI, 17 january 2022 (TATOLI) –The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture (MoHESC) registered 4.158 graduates from 11 universities in 2021.
The Director-General of the MoHESC, Maria Filomena Lay Guterres said that last year, due to the implementation of the state of emergency, sanitary fence and mandatory confinement made it difficult to hold the graduation ceremony in all universities.
She reaffirmed that graduation ceremonies of all universities were held after the lifting of the state of emergency in the country.
“Seven universities have not yet held the graduation ceremony. The ICR has been integrated into the Timorese Catholic University,” she said
She said of the 4.158 graduates, 1.040 were from UNPAZ University, 539 were from Díli University (UNDIL), 501 were from University of Oriental Timor Lorosa’e (UNITAL), and 600 from National University of Timor Lorosa’e (UNTL).
In addition, Dili Institute Technology (DIT) produced 355 graduates, the Institute of Religion (ICR) produced 80, Catholic Teacher Training (ICFP) has 108, Health Science Institute (ICS) produced 292, East Timor Coffee Institute (ETCI) has 8, Institute of Business (IOB) produced 480 and the Institute of Polytechnic Betano (IPB) has 83 graduates.
Several higher education hadn’t realized their graduation ceremony, including the Institute of São João de Brito (ISJB), the Institute of João Saldanha (JSI), the Institute of Philosophy of São Francisco de Sales (IFSFS), the Institute of Boaventura of Timor-Leste ( IBTL), the Professional Institute of Canossa (IPDC), the Institue of Cristal (ISC).
She added it was necessary to check all the documents of the candidates to avoid any errors before publishing their names on Jornal da República.
