DILI, 25 january 2022 (TATOLI)- National Institution for Labor Force Development (INDMO) prepares Five qualification areas to bring to World Skill Asia (WSA’s) competition in Malaysia, in 2023.
INDMO technical delegation for World Skill Asia in Timor-Leste, Amándio Belo said Timor-Leste through INDMO with partners has discussed for technical delegation to participate in WSA’s competition.
The objective of this meeting is to get some information for the WSA’s competition.

“WSA’s members recommended to TL must complete the criteria for the competition. The criteria are required for Timor-Leste to identify for which area must be able to bring for competition,” INDMO technical delegation for World Skill Asia in Timor-Leste, Amándio Livio Belo told to reports in INDMO meeting room, in Hudi-laran, 25 january, this tuesday.
He added, INDMO will decide the area that is able to go for competition, however still needs more discussion with other relevant parts.
“We have selected some areas that will compete for competition as Tourism (Horticulture), Agriculture (Hotel), Cooking and Building (Welding) and among others”.
Thus, according to Belo, it is required for more discussion with Technique Vocation School and Horticulture high schools.
At the same time, the Director of education Technique Vocation, Augusto Pereira recognized that Timor-Leste still lacks capacity. The participant will be dependent on how many areas TL is involved in for the competition. There are about five or six students who will go to Malaysia.
However, It is a good opportunity to take part in a WSA competition to demonstrate the ability and knowledge at Asia level. It is helping students to develop their talent for any subjects that they have learned.
The INDMO director, Isabel Fernandes De Lima said Timor-Leste has been recognized by world skills Asia members.
Timor-Leste has signed an agreement for Asia Pacific Accreditation Recognition in 2019. It helps Timor-Leste to improve license professional and accreditation standards.
“There are 40 instructors from Myanmar who have adopted Timor-Leste’s pedagogy. It means Timor-Leste is qualified for International standards not just at Asia level,” she said.
Timor-Leste has dealt with a mutual recognition agreement for Horticulture, which was evaluated by Bulacan state University in Texas, America.
