Jacobs also said he did not know how many observers would be sent to Timor-Leste, as it was still being discussed at EU Headquarters in Belgium, Brussels.

“I don’t know for sure how many observers will be sent to Timor-Leste to monitor the presidential election because it is still in the process of being discussed but for sure they will arrive in Timor-Leste this February,” said Jacobs.

Previously, the National Director of the Electoral Administration Technical Secretariat (STAE), Acilino Manuel Branco, informed that more than 30 observers from the European Union would arrive in Timor – Leste in early February to conduct direct observations of the upcoming presidential election.
