DILI, 07 february 2022 (TATOLI) – Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, Taur Matan Ruak will receive an award from the Government of Australia for Timor-Leste’s success in tackling Covid-19.
“I will depart for Australia to receive an award from the Government of Australia for our success in tackling Covid-19 in the country. It’s a privilege for Timor-Leste,” Prime Minister Ruak told reporters after having a meeting with Director-Generals and the authorities of the municipalities, and administrative posts, at the Ministry of Finance, in Dili, on monday.
Ruka said Timor-Leste has been widely praised for its success in the mitigation and prevention of Covid-19 to protect its citizens from the worst impact of the Covid-19.
He said the VIII Constitutional Government under his leadership was criticized by many entities for its Covid-19 protective measures, but the government kept putting efforts to protect its citizens from the Covid-19.
Apart from receiving the award, the Prime Minister would also meet with his Australian counterpart to have a have-a-face discussion on the development of the greater sunrise oil and gas field.
